This is our first book by Kate and we have already become addicted to her writing. We received a copy of this book via Voracious Readers and was emailed a copy by Kate. Our opinions on this book are our own and we do not intend to offense or discredit the author or publisher with our perspectives.

We have read our fair share of Historical Romance and have always found that they can either be written well and exciting, or dull and boring. There are some we have read that start out strong and then plateau half way through the book which, is when it should really start to pick up pace.

The main characters are Captain Ashley Winters and Lady Geraldine Myers. Lady Myers is scheduled to marry the appointed Earl of Kingsmead upon the death of the previous Earl. However, Captain Ashley Winters arrives to shake that up and disclose that he is the rightful heir and the long lost Earl. From there Captain Winters and Lady Myers form a relationship and set together on a mystery to prove or disprove whether Captain Winters is the rightful heir and what happened to Hunter Lyndon, the Earl's deceased son.

This story is witty and compelling. There is never a dull moment and Kate really leaves us guessing up until the very end whether Captain Winters is a conman or a long lost Earl. We would highly recommend this book to friends who love a good historical romance with a twist. This book is no where near boring or dull and it will keep you on the edge of your seat the whole time. We enjoyed this book so much that in sharing our thoughts, Kate sent along a copy of her other novel The Earl of Smuggler's Cove, which we are eager to start reading.

We look forward to reading more from Kate and can we say, the cover of this book is breathtaking! Check out Voracious Readers for those looking to get in on reviewing.
